What started as a day with some of the most challenging weather conditions we’ve seen turned into a great event for our own junior section.Β
The weather was absolutely atrocious – and that’s putting it mildly! Many of our young competitors faced the elements without waterproofs or umbrellas, yet not a single player walked off the course. Every scorecard was returned (though the condition of some cards was quite something to behold!).
Among our 43 competitors were 2 lady juniors and participants from visiting clubs, including one dedicated young golfer who travelled all the way from Callander Golf Club to take part.
Perhaps the most heartwarming moment came when one particularly enthusiastic competitor – so delighted at not finishing last – took home hard copies of all the leaderboard results to show their school friends. This is exactly the kind of enthusiasm and love for golf that we want to nurture!
Competition Results
In the Lexwell Trophy, Elderslie Team 2 secured the win for us with a fantastic total of 111 points. The team comprised of Flynn Thornton, Lewis Cook, Callan McGuire and Lucas Leckie with the final scores coming from Flynn, Lewis and Callan.
Elderslie Team 1 finished in a respectable 3rd place.
In the Elderlsie Junior Open competition, Aidan McGuire was the winner in the Division 2 category and Lewis Cook took 3rd place in the same division.
Finally, congratulations to Flynn Thornton and Lewis Cook, who won the longest drive and nearest the pin competitions on holes 18 and 2 respectively.
Many juniors stayed for the prize-giving ceremony, creating a wonderful sense of community and celebration that extended well beyond just the prize winners.
