On Monday night, the Gents team got their 2025 Newton Shield campaign underway with a home fixture against Ranfurly Castle, played under clear skies and in good early-season spirits.
Elderslie’s starting lineup consisted of Ethan Lang, Rhys McIlroy, Robbie McLeod, Jim MacDonald, Jack Tourish, Mark McVeigh, Kenny Bell and Steven Leckie. Most of the matches remained close through the evening.
Jim MacDonald and Jack Tourish had great wins, finishing 3&1 and 4&3 respectively. Rhys McIlroy and Mark McVeigh secured their victories on the 18th green, with Ethan and Stevie securing a point each after close matches in their games.

The Elderslie Gents now turn their attention to their first away match of the season, taking on Kilmacolm on Monday, May 5th.
