The Xmas lunch held on Wednesday 11th December was well attended by over 40 people and the Top Table, chaired by our 2020-21 Captain Jim Hutton, included the following guests Club Captain Colin Haldane, Club Course Manager John Garioch, Club Managing Secretary Kelly Forsyth, Seniors Guest Jim Bruce and Club Professional Scott McGrenaghan.
The lunch was opened by Captain Jim Hutton welcoming the Top Table Guests and the members in attendance and reflecting on the past year of successes in many senior events and in particular a very strong Elderslie Seniors Open. The names of those senior members sadly no longer with us were read out and they will be greatly missed.
Grace was said by Henry Bradley who has supported the Senior Section with a lot of time and organizing in the absence of a Captain and this was noted by Captain Jim.
The Xmas lunch provided by Linats was very well received and since Linda and Natalie have taken charge of the kitchen the food was of the highest standard enjoyed by everyone. The bar and food service was also complimented and thanks to Gary and his staff for a smooth running of the lunch and drinks service.
The Presentation of prizes followed lunch and prizes were presented by Captain Colin Haldane assisted by Jim Bruce. Pictures of the winners and runners up are shown below.
Captain Colin said a few words of thanks to the Senior section noting the contribution to the indoor practice facility and the success of the Seniors Open with the plan for an added Texas Scramble next season.
As in past years, Jim Bruce provided the entertainment factor in the form of the Xmas Quiz with a rich mix of general knowledge and golfing questions. Sadly no one scored all questions correct but guest Kelly Forsyth showed a strong score (supported by a couple of top table partners). It was all good fun and almost everyone went home with a prize from the raffle which had prizes presented by Kelly who was gifted a liquid token of appreciation from the Seniors Section for all her support during each season.
Captain Jim closed the Xmas Lunch for 2019 and wished all the best for a Happy Xmas and New Year and looking forward to the new golfing season.
